His favorite quote is from educator, Horace Mann, "Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity."

Personal Statement:

"Every time I sit down to write something or prepare to teach a class, I am reminded of this quote, which I was first exposed to in an episode of the Twilight Zone (Changing of the Guard), which is about a teacher who is forced to retire and feeling as if his life was meaningless. He discovers that this is untrue, and students were inspired by him to do many heroic deeds. As a teacher and writer, I like to believe that my written and spoken words will be something remembered when I am long gone. Inspiring people, especially young people, to think and be the best that they can be is my goal as an educator and a writer."
